Why choose Daisy ?

Pros

  • Well engineered ... Java and Cocoon 2
    • Good separation of content, layout, logic and database
    • Well defined Java and XML/HTTP API
    • Easily customized or extended (if you know how :)
  • Good WYSIWYG editor for standard HTML (no custom markup)
  • Version control
  • Handles non-HTML content, e.g. images, other document formats
  • Multiple sites or document collections
  • Well maintained open-source project
    • Responsive developers and active email list

Cons

  • Documentation incomplete, particularly for skinning and customization
  • Not as feature rich as the very best CMS available
  • May be more comfortable with longer established or better known PHP based CMS

Other options

  • PHP: Drupal, MySource Matrix, PHPNuke --> PostNuke --> Xaraya
  • Java: Magnolia, OpenCMS, Open ACS, Confluence (commercial)
  • Python: Plone (based on Zope)

However ... can utilize multiple solutions, e.g. Daisy and something else !
